Job Description:


To provide support for the Marketing Department.


  • Assist with all internal and external communication including submitting upcoming events and programs to online and print event calendars and to local media outlets.
  • Maintain media publication database and assist with researching new media outlets and marketing opportunities.
  • Coordinate and manage all activities pertaining outreach at festivals, community events, and fairs.
  • Process invoices and manage tracking of Marketing budget and expenditures in Google docs. Manages and codes credit card receipts.
  • Support the maintenance and data entry of client contact information in MailChimp and Altru.
  • Manage and maintain a list of yearly events, programs and exhibitions that include event title, date, description and other pertinent information. Assist with creating event, exhibition and program descriptions used in the Museum’s marketing efforts.
  • Assist with all advertising content, creation, editing and deadlines with Senior Director of Marketing, Marketing & Communications Manager, Graphic Designer, and media outlet.
  • Assist with maintaining social media channels per request of the Marketing & Communications Manager.
  • Assist in the production and editing the bi-annual Ahoy! Magazine.
  • Assist with market research and visitor surveys.
  • Assist with coordinating cross-promotional opportunities with other organizations. Coordinate promotions and giveaways with local media. Track winners and process promotional passes.
  • Manage donation requests. Coordinate requests for flyers and brochures to libraries, welcome centers, related businesses, etc.
  • Assist with creating content for and producing marketing emails.
  • Assist with writing press releases as needed and distributing to media outlets through Museum’s PR tool Meltwater. Assist with building distribution lists.
  • Assist with fielding media inquiries and with media onsite.
  • Assist with recruiting and managing marketing volunteers and interns
  • Track, organize and store all media coverage and advertisements of the Museum and Park (print and digital files). Track and manage all materials for marketing recaps.
  • Manage and ensure all information related to events, exhibitions and programs are updated on the Museum’s website.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Possess the confidence to work autonomously.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be quick and decisive, detail oriented, and organized.
  • Knowledge of customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Writing and editing experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Exercises a high degree of discretion and initiative.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information when working with donor and member sensitive information.


1-3 years Marketing experience required.

Education, Licensure, Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
